Recent reports have emerged that former England national team manager Roy Hodgson could provide his services in China soon after rumors went out that he received an £8 million per year salary offer from several unnamed Chinese Super League clubs.

Daily Mail Online reported that the English mentor is "wanted by the mega-rich Chinese Super League despite England's Euro 2016 debacle" when the Three Lions were eliminated by underdog Iceland in the round-of-16 stage.

The report went on to say that China top flight bosses who wants Hodgson are ready to pay "more than double" the £3.5 million annual wage he is receiving from the Football Association just to lure him to the Far East nation.

"I think there are many chances (for him)," said the CEO of China's largest sports agency, Eric Gao, as per the Mirror. "They would love to sign him."

"(Hodgson) has the kind of profile that will fit a Chinese Super League club," Gao said. "I know a number of clubs who are wanting international investors to be their shareholders as well, something will happen very soon."

"They want to change the DNA of football, they want to get worldwide investment, bring the brand, the coach, the football manager and players systematically, not one by one but group by group," he added.

Hodgson, who is turning 69 on Tuesday, is said to be "weighing up his next move" following his resignation from the England post after the shameful defeat to lowly Iceland in the continental championships.

Still, Chinese first-tier squads are keen on snagging him to their side as they are hoping that his "vast experience and expertise of European football" will be a massive boost to the development of the sport in the country.

There were also accounts that said he could be given a similar consultancy role that current Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho had with the league when the Portuguese coach was sacked by Chelsea in the middle of last term.

Hodgson was a former head coach of Premier League sides Liverpool and West Bromwich Albion from 2010 to 2012 before being appointed as the manager of the national squad in May 2012 replacing Fabio Capello.
