Italian Serie A club Inter Milan sacked head coach Roberto Mancini on Friday and rumors have since emerged that the former Manchester City and Galatasaray manager could move his services to China next.

Mancini came back to Inter for a second head coaching stint in November 2014 to replace Walter Mazzarri. The 51-year-old Italian manager led La Beneamata to a 36-24-16 win-loss-draw record (47.37 win percentage) since his return, but the new owners of the club, China's Suning Holdings Group, was reportedly not satisfied by his performance and would like to bring in their own head coach.

The Sun reported that "the club's Chinese owners wielded the axe on the former Manchester City boss after watching the Nerazzurri get thrashed 6-1 by Tottenham in a friendly on Friday".

The report also noted that AFC Ajax boss Frank de Boer is the anointed man tipped to replace Mancini for the Suning conglomerate, who also owns Chinese Super League powerhouse Jiangsu Suning FC.

De Boer has been with the Dutch outfit in his entire managerial career, being in charge in 262 games and having an impressive 158-47-57 slate for a 60.3 win percentage.

The 46-year-old Dutchman said to have resigned from his Ajax post at the end of the season after failing to win the Eredivisie title against rival squad PSV Eindhoven.

Meanwhile, Football Italia indicated that Mancini could "restart his career in China" after his Inter Milan dismissal.

The report mentioned that "a number of Chinese clubs" are "following him", although the specific names of these teams have yet to be disclosed.

Some of the well-known Italian coaches currently working in China are Ciro Ferrara of China League One squad Wuhan Zall FC and Fabio Cannavaro of Tianjin Quanjian FC, which is also from the second division domestic competitions.

World Cup-winning manager Marcello Lippi was also a former head coach of China top flight champions Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao FC until his retirement in 2014.
