Chinese electronics company Xiaomi has revealed that it is working on a "more sophisticated" virtual reality headset, CNCB reported.

However, Xiaomi vice president Hugo Barra revealed that the company is working on a better, more advanced VR device.

"We are going to introduce much more sophisticated VR products in the Chinese market," Barra stated on Friday, as was written by CNBC.

Barra noted that China is a potential mass market for the technology, considering that the country sells 400 to 500 million VR-capable smartphones every year.

Xiaomi reportedly got one million registrations for the beta testing of its Mi VR Play headset just eight hours. Users included in the beta testing will be able to avail the device for 1 yuan.

Barra stated that Xiaomi's sales forecast for the Mi VR Play is good, adding that the device would easily sell by the millions.

Along with Mi VR Play, the company also released the Mi VR app which allows users to access content made by several of Xiaomi's partners.
