Six Chinese cities will reportedly compete in the inaugural China Arena Football League tournament, or CAFL Super Series, set in October.

The games will feature players from the Arena Football League (AFL), the highest division of professional indoor American Football competitions in the United States, and local Chinese players. It is an 8-on-8 match in a 66-yard indoor football field, consisting of four foreign and four local players on the field at a time.

CAFL is not directly affiliated to AFL and is owned by AFL Global, LLC, founded by Martin E. Judge, Jr. and former NFL quarterback Ron Jaworski.

Shanghai Daily reported that around 60 players "from home and abroad" will compete with each other in the inaugural season, which is said to be a "great way to promote the sport on a bigger stage on the mainland".

Beijing, Dalian, Qingdao, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen will cater 15 elimination round games in October before Shanghai hosts the final round of the series, dubbed as the CAFL China Bowl, on Nov. 5 and 6.

"I could not turn down the incredible experience of traveling to China, teaching the game I love, playing the game I love, and being able to soak up the culture. Also, I am honored for the opportunity to play in the inaugural season of the CAFL," said Beijing Lions wide receiver Collin Taylor, as per the American Football International Review.

Meanwhile, Guangzhou Power quarterback JJ Raterink said that "I am extremely excited to get the opportunity to introduce the intense and exciting Arena Football game to a whole new culture and country and learn all about this part of the world".

"The Arena game has introduced me to more lifetime friends and given me more fantastic memories than I can count and I can't wait to see what positive impact it has on the communities and cities where we play. I am very grateful to try and expand the game worldwide which has been so great and beneficial to me," Raterink added.
