This achievement has been made possible by the of the Chinese government's continuous investment in science.

China spends an average of $40 billion per year on scientific research - only the US which invests a greater amount than that.

China's greatest achievement is its space program. In only five years, the country has built the world's largest telescope.

Premier Li Keqiang, early this year, encouraged the country's leaders to invest more in science and technology to aid the development of the country.

"Innovation is the primary driving force for development and must occupy a central place in China's development strategy," Li said.
