Top Manchester City center back Vincent Kompany is reportedly set to stay at the Etihad next season even with the impending arrival of new manager Pep Guardiola.

Rumors were out that the 45-year-old Spanish head coach is intending to make a huge overhaul in City's roster when he officially takes over from Manuel Pellegrini in the summer. A lot of the club's existing players are actually threatened by the speculations and there were also allegations that Kompany will seek to get out of the team because of it.

Furthermore, his recent recurring calf problems have said to be raising "doubts over his long-term future at the Etihad Stadium", as per the Telegraph.

Kompany has been sidelined for about a month right now as he missed both legs of the team's Champions League quarterfinals victory over Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.

However, the 30-year-old defender's agent, Jacques Lichtenstein, confirmed that the Belgium international has no plans of exiting City at the end of this season and that he will not be sold by Guardiola as well.

"Vincent is stronger than ever," the agent said, as reported by Caught Offside. "We are in touch on a daily basis and he's absolutely not worried about his future. That's his strength. He still has a contract for three seasons, he's the captain of one of the biggest clubs in the world and he's convinced his best years are ahead of him."

"He still stays an important player in the squad. The stats are proving it. Why would he be leaving?" he added.

Kompany has been with Manchester for eight seasons to date as he was acquired from Bundesliga club Hamburg SV in the summer of 2008 for an undisclosed fee that was guessed to be in the area of £6 million.

The Brussels, Belgium native is reportedly set to return this Saturday against Chelsea as he is also intending to play in the semifinals of the Champions League versus a still unannounced opponent beginning at the end of April.
