The Oklahoma City Thunder is rumored to be pursuing Denver Nuggets small forward Danilo Gallinari as a potential replacement for Kevin Durant.

The team is well aware that a player like Durant is not easily replaced, but it is still looking for players who can somehow "fill the hole" the former league MVP left in the squad when he decided to join the Golden State Warriors in the summer.

According to Sportsrageous, the Nuggets' Gallinari can actually fit the bill and the Thunder could send several players and draft picks to Denver to acquire the hot-shooting wingman.

OKC is reportedly sending Andre Roberson, Mitch McGary and Kyle Singler, together with two future draft picks, in exchange for the former Italian League MVP, but it remains to be seen whether Denver would approve such a deal.

Gallinari has been the subject of several trade rumors this summer as part of a package that would include him in a trade based on teammate Kenneth Faried. The Nuggets is reportedly planning to go through a youth revolution with the young core of Emmanuel Mudiay, Nikola Jokic and Jusuf Nurkic, and Gallinari and Faried are rumored to be outcast in the plans of Denver head coach Mike Malone.

Gallinari is also set to become a free agent at the end of the season and is rumored to be searching for one final huge contract before he turns 30 years old, according to RealGM.

If the rumors were true, then the 28-year-old Italian could eventually end up with another team before the new season starts later this month.

However, it seems unlikely that the above-mentioned trade will push through as the salaries of both sides are a mismatch. Roberson, McGary and Singler's combined wages do not reach the $15.5 million annual salary that Gallinari is enjoying at the moment.

Denver is reportedly not looking as well for a large number of players in return for Gallinari as the team is "already loaded with talent."

The Thunder is set to benefit more in the suggested trade, although, it will only get one player. Adding Gallinari to become one of the potential pass receivers of Russell Westbrook in the perimeter would help OKC to spread the floor for their All-Star point guard.
