The Brooklyn Nets is still considering to trade Brook Lopez before this season's trade deadline and the Boston Celtics, Charlotte Hornets, Milwaukee Bucks and Portland Trail Blazers are all interested, according to the latest NBA trade rumors.

Brooklyn begins this season without high expectations as the team is reportedly starting a long-term rebuild with head coach Kenny Atkinson and general manager Sean Marks, who are both in their first season with the club.

Their first move was signing Jeremy Lin in the offseason to ensure they have a quality point guard during the process.

Recent rumors said the duo's next move is trading starting center Lopez before or during next year's February deadline to "bring back some quality assets", as per ESPN.

The New York Post's Brian Lewis reported that Brooklyn is currently in the hunt for assets to move forward with its rebuilding plans and will be "able to bring back a windfall for Lopez."

The report added that "they could move him at the trade deadline to a desperate contender that feels it is just a star big man away."

Lewis said in particular that the Celtics, Hornets, Bucks and Blazers may call Marks "between Dec. 15 and the February trade deadline" to inquire about Lopez's availability and the GM is expected to answer.

Marks will reportedly look for the best offer among the four contending teams, which most probably be young players and future draft picks, who are essential for the Nets' rebuilding development.

Lopez is still under contract until the end of the 2017-2018 season and is owed a total of $43.8 million in the last two seasons of his deal.

He is set to become an unrestricted free agent by the summer of  2018,where he can choose to stay or move out of the team that will be able to land him.

Lopez is one of the best starting centers in the league right now, although NBA teams are slowly deviating from having traditional centers to a small-ball type of lineups. This concept may make Lopez's trade value decrease than what it used to be.
