Sacramento is shopping DeMarcus Cousins, but some NBA executives have reportedly said that the All-Star center is being "overvalued" by the Kings.

Sacramento's year-by-year failures with Cousins as their main player have generated a lot of speculations with regards to the 26-year-old's future.

The fifth overall pick of the 2010 draft is now in his seventh season with the Kings, and the team has never qualified for the playoffs. The team's current status has led some analysts to predict that Cousins will be moved in or before the February trade deadline.

Cousins is in the third-year of his four-year, $65.6 million deal with Sacramento and there are rumors that he is likely to exit the club when he becomes an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2018.

Yahoo Sports reported that this has forced the Kings to actively find a team to trade Cousins, but teams have reportedly been hesitant to sign a deal for the former Kentucky standout because of his history and perceived trade value.

"They'll never get what they want in return," said an East Conference executive. "They think Cousins is worth more than he actually is. He hurts you every bit as much as he helps you. He's like a cheeseburger, or booze. Too much and you'll pay a price."

Meanwhile, a different team executive said that the Kings are just holding on to Cousins "because they have no other choice." Some have opined that Sacramento is asking too much for the two-time All-NBA Second Teamer and interested clubs are no longer willing to give up that much on Cousins.

"I'd say it's 50-50," a Western Conference executive said with regards to the possibility of Sacramento trading Cousins in midseason, according to Bleacher Report. "If not, it's not necessarily because they want to keep him."

Another general manager said that the Kings "try to act like they would never ever trade him, but why not?" He added that "the team stinks" and it has been that way "since (Cousins) got there".
