Shanghai Sharks Outlast Shenzhen New Century to Remain Undefeated in the Chinese Basketball Association

(Photo : Getty Images) Jimmer Fredette scored 37 points in 44 minutes of playing time to lead the Shanghai Sharks to the its sixth straight victories of the season.

Top notched team Shanghai Sharks continue to dominate the ongoing 22nd edition of the Chinese Basketball Association after getting the better of the 10th-ranked Shenzhen New Century Leopards in the league's sixth round on Sunday evening.

The Sharks scored a 112-108 triumph against the Qun Li-headed team to keep their hold on top of the team standing together with the Xinjiang Flying Tigers, who are also unbeaten in six games played since last month.

According to EuroBasket, former NBA journeyman Jimmer Fredette poured in game-high 37 points in 44 minutes of playing time to lead the Yao Ming-owned basketball outfit to the its sixth straight victories of the season. The American point guard was an assist short to finish the game in another double-double game production and two rebounds away to end the match in triple-double.

The Sharks also got an impressive game output from the 27-year-old Chinese guard Xiaoyu Liu, who scored with 26 points that includes three connections from beyond the arc area. The Boston Celtics' 2016 NBA Draft 16th overall pick Guerschon Yabusele contributed with 14 markers while playing for just 27 minutes on the hardwood.

Veteran import Jeremy Pargo paced Shenzhen with a double-double game production of 33 points and 10 assists while Chinese forward Quan Gu had 15 points.

The Sharks will be playing the current 14th-ranked Jilin Northeastern Tigers in the league's next round on Wednesday. The Northeastern Tigers presently own a 3-3 win-loss record and have lost their most recent game against the Liaoning Flying Leopards 115-102.

Basing from the game results of the NowGoal, the Sharks were leading by five at the half 53-48 before the Longgang District-based Chinese side cut the deficit within one after staging a 28-24 run during the third quarter.

However, the Sharks remained with a lot of composure and held Shenzhen to just 32 points in the final 12 minutes of the game while they managed to score 35 points to wrap the match with a win.
