The Golden State Warriors have denied rumors that Klay Thompson is set to leave the team for the Boston Celtics.

Thompson has been the subject of numerous trade rumors after starting the season on a shooting slump. His lackluster performances in the first few games of the season, especially when it comes to his three-point shooting, has sparked rumors that he will be traded in midseason.

Some analysts have commented that he is an "ill-fit" in the Warriors super-team and could be the odd-man out if the team decides to re-tool their roster before the February trade deadline.

From a 42.5 percent clip from downtown last season, his three-point shooting percentage dropped to 19.6 percent after six games this season. It is back up to 41.7 percent at the moment after a string of consecutive efficient shooting nights in Golden State's wins over Dallas, Denver, and Phoenix in the past week.

The latest rumor involving Thompson is said to have been started by former NBA player and now Celtics television analyst Brian Scalabrine.

According to CBS Sports, Scalabrine reportedly said that he "heard" that the Warriors are "looking to trade" Thompson to the Celtics in midseason as the club is looking for a rim protector to complement their current surplus of outside shooters.

"It's going to be impossible to win a championship without having rim protection against LeBron and Kyrie," Scalabrine said. "So who's your most valuable asset, or who's your most unneeded asset at this point? I don't know, but I heard that rumor going around and it was specifically to a team that wears green."

Scalabrine admitted that he got the rumor from the Morning Ledger a couple of days ago as he seemed to be insinuating that Thompson is the least needed member of the Warriors' roster.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was one of the first persons to shoot down the rumors in a recent interview, saying that his players know that these kinds of speculations are "almost always BS."
