The new S 650 Cabriolet is based on the Mercedes S-Class Cabriolet which debuted at last year's Frankfurt motor show and hit the market in April. Based on some marketing material provided by Mercedes, the S 650 is expected to have the standard Cabriolet wheelbase as opposed to early rumors that it will sport an extended wheelbase like the S 600 saloon.

As its name implies, the S 650 Cabriolet boasts of several upgrades on its 6.0-liter V12 twin-turbocharged engine, according to CNet. Some say that it might be even more powerful than that of the Mercedes-AMG S 65. The Mercedes-Maybach S 650 is expected to pack 612 horsepower and can accelerate from zero to 62mph in just 4.1 seconds.

In a preview provided by Mercedes, it was shown that the S 650 has a rating of 23.5mpg and 272g/km of CO2 emissions.

The Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Cabriolet is expected to be available in limited quantity. There are rumors that only 300 units will be rolled out into the market. This sense of exclusivity is sure to garner attention from international collectors and will no doubt cause the car's price to shoot up.
