‘Minecraft: Console Edition’ Holiday Update Brings Plenty of New Content

Microsoft recently announced that the final "Minecraft: Console Edition" update for this year will be released late in December. Dubbed only as the Holiday Update, it is also slated as the largest "Minecraft" update of this year.

The Holiday Update will introduce new features like the Elytra, which is a pair wings that allow players to glide, according to Engadget. Other confirmed content included in the update are End Cities, and the Dragon's Breath potion ingredient.

Also included in the update is the Amplified Terrain which is a world creation feature that generates with much higher highs and lower lows, according to Kotaku.

The update is expected to be rolled out to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PlayStation Vita consoles. Microsoft promises that the Holiday Update will put the console version of "Minecraft" on par with the game's PC edition.

The Holiday Update will also make a few updates on the game's user interface. New mobs, blocks, items, and status effects are also expected. Elytra in The End, the game's third and final dimension, is also included in the update. "Minecraft" developer Mojang said that it will release a sneak peak of the update today, probably in order to build excitement over the new contents.

The Holiday Update is free to download for players who already own a copy of "Minecraft: Console Edition." Aside from the major update, "Minecraft" is also slated to hit Apple TV before the year ends.
