Spurs Continue Road Winning Streak With Win Over Hornets

(Photo : Getty Images) Starters Kawhi Leonard and LaMarcus Aldridge both scored 22 points each to lead the Spurs secure the second-best home start to a season in the history of the NBA.

The San Antonio Spurs continue its unbeaten road record following its victory over the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday night. The Spurs won, 119-114, and started this season 8-0 on the road.

Leading the Spurs is the new face of the franchise, Kawhi Leonard, with 30 points. Big man LaMarcus Aldridge added 23 points and grabbed seven rounds, while shooter Danny Green is showing signs of recovery from a recent injury with 16 points shooting four of seven on the three-point territory.

The Spurs hold an 11-3 record is undefeated in the last eight games. During the post-game press conference, Hornets head coach Steve Clifford explained why the Spurs has an unbeaten road record.

In a statement acquired by Charlotte Observer, Clifford said, "They have a guy who is an MVP candidate, Pau Gasol and Tony Parker who are probably Hall-of-Famers, Aldridge, who is a perennial All-Star and Danny Green who has been a starter on two championship teams."

Despite lacking in superstar firepower, the Hornets gave the Spurs an intense game with 28 lead changes going into the fourth quarter.

According to NBA.com, Kemba Walker led the Hornets in three major stats posting 26 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists. Sixth-man Frank Kaminsky added 13 points and eight rebounds, while starters Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Marvin Williams, and Roy Hibbert have 10 points apiece. The Hornets have an 8-5 record.

The Spurs will travel to Boston on Friday in a bid to continue its road winning run, while the New York Knicks will host the Hornets on the same day as well.
