"Ashes of the Singularity" has been used recently to benchmark some new generation graphics cards. The game was used because of its use of DirectX 12, as well as its built-in benchmarking feature.

According to Hot Hardware, the leaked benchmark slide was posted by a user named Ceaj and it showed a graphics card with an ID 687F:C1. "Ashes of the Singularity" can recognize almost every graphics cards that are out in the market today. Some tech analysts said that since the graphics card was not recognized by the game's benchmark tool, it could mean that the hardware is not out yet.

Speculations about the possibility that it is indeed the rumored RX 490 are backed by the benchmark results, according to VideoCardz. The mysterious card managed to score an almost identical result with that of the GTX 1080. The fact that it is not the GTX 1080 fueled many to believe that it is the AMD Radeon RX 490.

AMD promised that the Vega-based RX 490 will be a high-end graphics card, as opposed to the RX 480, RX 470, and RX 460, which were released for the mid- to entry-level gaming market. AMD is expected to unveil its new line of graphics cards and processors before the end of the year, with an expected release date within the first half of 2017.
