There are rumors that the Boston Celtics could target All-Star power forward Kevin Love in a potential multi-player trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Boston has long been rumored to be searching for a superstar that will lead them to become NBA title contenders once again. The Celtics had acquired four-time NBA All-Star Al Horford via free-agency in July, signing him to a four-year, $113 million deal, but the team still has issues when it comes to scoring and rebounding that Horford will not be able to answer by himself.

This has led to speculations linking them to the Cavaliers, specifically one that involves 28-year-old stretch four Love. Love can definitely provide the Celtics the things that they need on both ends of the floor if only the team can pull off a trade for him.

Love has been the subject of a lot of trade rumors since the Cavs won the NBA title over the Golden State Warriors in June.

Cleveland head coach Tyronn Lue replaced Love with veteran wingman Richard Jefferson in the starting lineup during the middle of the series and it has allowed the team to climb up from 1-3 down to eventually win the championship in seven games.

The move sparked rumors that Love is an ill-fit with LeBron James and Kyrie Irving and that the Cavs would be better off without the former UCLA standout.

Inquisitr suggested that a seven-player deal is possible to bring Love to Boston. According to the report, the Celtics could send Amir Johnson, Jae Crowder, Marcus Smart, and rookie Jaylen Brown to the Cavs in exchange for Love, Mike Dunleavy, and the contract of retiring veteran Mo Williams.

However, losing Johnson, Crowder, Smart, and Brown could mean the emergence of depth issues for Brad Steven's squad, particularly in the wing and point guard positions.

ESPN's NBA Trade Machine approves such a deal, which means it can be a legal trade under the league's trade and salary cap rules. It remains to be seen, though, whether the Celtics and Cavs would be interested in pulling off the hypothetical trade.
