Oppo Launches UDP-203 Ultra HD Blu-ray Player for $550

Oppo has unveiled its UHD Blu-ray player called UDP-203, which is a limited edition of a 4K Blu-ray player.

UDP-203 is all about high-end disc playback. Users are able to play CD, Super Audio CD, DVD, DVD Audio, Blu-ray, and Blu-ray 3D. The Blu-ray player supports audio codec that includes Dolby Atmos and DTS: X surround sound as well as DSD64 and DSD128. The player can also decode AIFF, WAV, ALAC, APE, and FLAC audio formats.

The physical media player offers 4K Ultra HD with 3,840 x 2,160 pixels screen resolution. It supports Dolby Vision HDR and Wide Color Gamut. With these features, it offers enhanced resolution, refined contrast, greater brightness, and expanded color to produce stunning videos. 

Oppo integrates a tailored quad-core video decoder/processor for the player’s advanced video decoding, processing, and optimization expertise. UDP-203 provides premium experience for disc playback with swift start-up times and prompt response.

The player features two HDMI outputs: HDMI 2.0 port and HDMI 1.4 audio port. HDMI 2.0 port is for connecting to the latest UHD TVs, projectors, and A/V receivers, while the HDMI 1.4 is for connecting to older A/V receivers. Aside from the HDMI outputs, the UDP-203 is also available using the 7.1-channel analog outputs, which features “Velvet Sound” 32-bit premium digital-to-analog converters from Japan’s AKM.

The Oppo UDP–203 has a price tag of $550, and pre-orders will start on Dec. 15. However, the Blu-ray player is only available for US customers for the meantime. Oppo said that it is developing UDP–205 model as well with a target launch in early 2017.
