Brazilian star Oscar said that he was happy to leave Chelsea and move to China with Shanghai SIPG, reiterating that his decision was "not all about money".

Oscar, 25, is one of the latest young footballers who has been lured to move to the Far East during the recent winter transfer window. Some analysts have criticized him for choosing to leave the Premier League in exchange for playing in China while in his prime, but the former Chelsea standout said that he cannot make decisions about his life based "on what other people think", the Daily Star reported.

The Brazil international was acquired by the Red Eagles from the Blues last December for a Chinese transfer record-breaking $73 million.

"The financial aspect was important, but it's not all about money," said Oscar. "The city where you live is very important. I'm not going by myself, I have my wife and kids, so the city must be nice and Shanghai has all we need."

Oscar then disclosed the real reason why he chose to exit the Stamford Bridge in the middle of the season, saying that he wanted more playing time to boost his career but Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is not favoring him.

"I wasn't playing that much for Chelsea recently as well. So when I heard about their interest I was just happy to go," he said.

"Very hard," he replied after he was asked how difficult it was for him to decide to leave the Premier League. "I played there for five years, I arrived as a young boy and experienced so many nice moments with the club. I have a lot of respect for the supporters and the club itself."

Oscar also wished Chelsea to retain the English top-flight title this season, as per Tribal Football. He won one with the club during the 2014-2015 season when the team was still under manager Jose Mourinho.
