Offensive powerhouse Guangzhou R&F FC (1-0-0, 3 points) will look to win their second game in a row as they face lowly squad Changchun Yatai FC (0-1-0, 0 points) in a 2017 Chinese Super League season match at the Guangdong Provincial People's Stadium on Sunday, March 12.

Guangzhou R&F had an impressive performance in their season-opener last Saturday as they blanked newly-promoted side Tianjin Quanjian, 2-0, also at their home field of Guangdong Provincial People's Stadium, according to ESPN.

Local striker Xiao Zhi opened the scoring in the 29th minute as he was left completely unmarked by Tianjin's backline for a deadlock-breaking header. The assist came from midfielder Chen Zhizhao.

Guangzhou winger Renatinho then doubled the Blue Lions' lead in the second half, slotting in a shot following an error by Quanjian keeper Zhang Lu, whose goal-kick went straight into the path of the charging Brazilian.

It was a good start for head coach Dragan Stojković's squad as last season's China League One champions were the favorites to win the match.

Meanwhile, Changchun Yatai was thrashed by a much-improved Shanghai SIPG XI, 1-5, on the road at the Shanghai Stadium last Saturday in their own season-opening fixture, Xinhua reported.

Changchun defender Fan Xiaodong scored the opening goal of the match in the 26th minute, but SIPG netted the next five goals to hand head coach Lee Jang-soo's side the embarrassing defeat. Hulk equalized the game in the 34th before compatriot Elkeson scored a hat trick in the 43rd, 51st, and 59th. Red Eagles striker Wu Lei sealed the game in injury time.

Changchun's newly-acquired foreign player, Odion Ighalo, had a forgettable China top-flight debut as the former Watford striker failed to score a single goal during the game.

The predicted result is a 3-1 win for Guangzhou R&F.
