China Launches Customized Windows 10 for China.

America's software giant Microsoft has announced that it is ready with its new customized Windows 10 version to quell down the security concerns of Chinese authorities. With this new customized version, the software giant hopes that China will lift the ban on use of Windows 10 across government agencies after it was banned owing to security concerns.

Microsoft developed the new customized version through a joint venture tie up with the state owned China Electronics Technology Group Corp (CETC) that was formed in 2015. The new joint venture company, known as C&M Information Technologies, went on the floor in September last year.

"We have already developed the first version of the Windows 10 government secure system. It has been tested by three large enterprise customers," Crozier said in an exclusive interview with China Daily.  "We have worked extensively to make it secure and controllable. We are now ready to serve the market."

Crozier is hopeful that once Chinese government agencies feel absolutely comfortable with the new customized Windows 10 version, the private companies will soon follow the suit.

Microsoft, however, has offered no details about what exact changes it has made in Windows 10 to get the nod from Chinese authorities.

The Windows 10 was banned from China's government procurement market amid widespread security concerns, following a revelation by the whistleblower Edward Snowden that the United States is running a massive surveillance program across the world.

The Microsoft's previous version Windows 8 was also made to exit the government procurement market in 2014, citing that the software was not exactly an 'energy efficient' product.

These bans have left a huge hole in profit of the American software giant, with China's government procurement market being one of the largest IT markets in the entire world. China's government procurement constitutes of all the government agencies as well as big state-owned enterprises, which spends billions of money on their IT requirements every year.

Apparently, Microsoft is not the only one that is facing issues in China. The services of other internet giants such as Google, Facebook and Twitter have long been banned in Mainland China owing to their failure to comply with strict Chinese censorship laws.
