Apple, Inc. Friday said the bending of the new iPhone 6 Plus is "extremely rare."

The California-based company said it received only nine complaints of bent iPhone 6 Plus out of the 10 million new iPhones it sold in the past week.

It didn't say how many of the 10 million units were the iPhone 6 Plus, however. Moreover, Apple said their smartphones passed high quality standards.

"IPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus meet or exceed all of our high quality standards to endure everyday, real life use," said Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller.

The new iPhones released last week went through a severe testing process, including pressure point cycling, torsion and three-point bending, Apple said in an interview with the Journal.

Despite this rigorous testing, nine iPhone 6 Plus were bent.

One user at a PC Mag forum claimed he stored the iPhone in hid front pants pocket and sat for about 18 hours. With emphasis on the "front" pocket, the user said the iPhone bent.

Another user tried placing his iPhone 6 in the front pocket and claimed it also bent. Users wondered if the iPhone 6 Plus is too thin for its length of 5.5 inches.

After these reports, the complaints were all over Twitter and Facebook. Apple rivals even joined in with a Twitter hashtag #bendgate.

John Chen, CEO of BlackBerry Ltd., even promoted their new phone by taking a shot at Apple yesterday. He challenged users to try bending the "Passport."

Aside from this issue, Apple had to deal with the iOS 8.0.1 fiasco that was supposed to clear-up iOS 8 glitches.

Apple Wednesday released an update to resolve problems that killed cellular service on some iPhones. It had to pull the update, however, and guide userson  how to revert their devices back to iOS 8.
