Sarah Palin will be flying to Louisiana to campaign for Republican Rob Maness, a senatorial candidate in a race against incumbent Democrat Mary Landrieu, in what has been tagged as an "insurgent campaign."

Palin will lend her Tea Party popularity to help Maness stay in the race, where he is also running against fellow republican and party favorite, Rep. Bill Cassidy.

The candidacy of two Republicans has begun a GOP race wherein Tea Party narrative is faced with a familiar and more popular candidate.

In an e-mail solicitation for the Tea Party event, it stated that Maness' candidacy will shock the establishment on Nov. 4 and will "confound the experts."

No names were dropped in the e-mail, but it said that a "surprise guest" will be attending the event.

A source with knowledge on planning the event told the media that Palin is the surprise guest mentioned in the solicitation e-mail.

According to the source, the former Alaska representative will be at the event, which will reportedly be held at  a restaurant in Crown Point, Louisiana, on Saturday.

In addition to attending the event, Palin recorded a voice ad for Maness as well.

In the state of Louisiana, all candidates, regardless of the political affiliation, will appear in the same ballot during an open primary election.

A candidate will then need to crack a 50 percent threshold on election day, an unlikely feat, in order to head to a runoff on Dec 6.

In several polls conducted recently, it showed that Maness has been consistently in single digits, which seemed unlikely that he will be the candidate to face incumbent Landrieu in a possible December run-off.

However, Palin's support has Democrats and Republicans consider the possibility that Maness could head to the runoff election.

Everyone was already preparing for the possibility of a runoff, according to a Republican organizer, but Palin's involvement "only made that far more likely."
