Responding officers to the accident reported that three of the softball players, who were all from the North Central Texas College, had been pronounced dead at the scene of the tragedy. The fourth player died despite efforts to immediately rush the victim to the hospital. He reportedly died at the local hospital, stated Hampton in his announcement.

The other passengers hurt were also students. Hampton disclosed that nine of those injured were brought to the nearest local hospitals by ambulance while the other two victims hurt in the crash were transported via a helicopter.

The driver of the semi-truck that hit the bus filled with students from the college had been taken to a local hospital to receive treatment for the injuries he incurred. However, Hampton revealed that the coach of the softball team had refused the treatment offered by the responding officers at the tragedy scene. The coach was said to have been the driver of the bus when the accident took place.

As of latest reports, no further information had been revealed with respect the status of all the people involved in the crash.

Investigation of the vehicles showed that both the semi-truck and bus were seriously damaged by the impact of the collision. Fortunately, no fire broke out due to the accident, Hampton declared.

Authorities have already commenced a homicide investigation. Hampton also shared that the National Transportation Safety Board would also conduct an investigation starting Saturday.

"We ask for your prayers at this time for our softball team," shared the community college in a statement released after learning what transpired in the Oklahoma freeway.
