(Photo : Reuters) Apple is offering a SIM-free iPhone 6 and 6 Plus on the U.S. store, allowing customers to choose their carrier.

Apple is nearing 20 million total iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus sales after selling 10 million in just three days.

It always takes a bit longer for the next 10 million to roll in, but Apple has managed to keep momentum high with the two new iPhones, combining it with the huge amount of early pre-orders in China.

According to data pulled from Mixpanel, the iPhone 6 accounted for around 80 percent of all iPhone sales in the past week. The Western audience hasn't been very receptive to the iPhone 6 Plus because of the recent #BendGate scandal. Phablets also remain a niche market.

In China, Apple is seeing much more enthusiasm for the iPhone 6 Plus, with pre-orders nearing 50/50, according to JD.com that tracks sales in real-time. Southeast Asia is generally more interested in phablets than the West and Samsung is making a great deal of their Galaxy Note sales in Asia.

Apple originally had a goal of 70 to 80 million iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus unit sales between launch and the start of 2015. This number is becoming more realistic as we see Chinese pre-orders and almost 20 million sales worldwide.

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are still coming to some markets and will not be in stock till November, but manufacturer Foxconn appears to be on top of the orders coming in. Apple is expecting its largest holiday season ever, potentially netting 50 million iPhone 6 and 6 Plus sales in November and December.

Apple is preparing to launch the next iPad Air and Mini in a few weeks, as well, two more products to add to the holiday season list.
