The camera is fitted with a C mount fitting, which is standard and widely adapted by lens manufacturers. A bit smaller than a GoPro, this fps1000 is compact and easy to use with a touch screen panel for control and viewfinding.

It is a single-board fully integrated camera that is fully user programmable for custom applications, making it the Raspberry Pi of the camera world. It has 32GB of flash memory, an SD card slot, USB port, and an LCD display that outputs real-time video.

"Three versions of the fps1000 are available: SILVER, GOLD and PLATINUM, differing in the amount of recording memory, maximum resolution and maximum frame rate. In all other respects the cameras are identical in terms of size and included hardware and software. The feature list of the different versions is shown on the comparison chart below:"

The fps1000 starts at the SILVER variant, recording at 840 frames per second at a resolution of 640 x 480.

This remarkable camera has already passed its Kickstarter goal with less than a month to go, with more than £43,000 pledged so far. This device makes a great tool for the budding videographer or photographer, and may open up new possibilities for those looking for an inexpensive way to record slow motion footage and stills.
