A 10-year-old boy from Pennsylvania is currently detained at Wayne County Correctional Facility and charged as an adult on Tuesday for the death of a 90-year-old woman.

Tristan Kurilla, 10, confessed to assaulting the 90-year-old Helen Novak to death during his visit in his grandfather's home on Saturday.

"I killed that lady," admitted the fifth grader following the discovery of the nonagenarian's body inside his grandfather's home. Kurilla made this startling confession on Saturday following his mother's decision to surrender him to the officers at Pennsylvanian State Police Barracks in Honesdale.

In accordance with the police affidavit, the 10-year-old admitted to taking a wooden cane and holding it against the throat of Novak for a few seconds, as well as punching the 90-year-old's stomach and throat.

The interview with the boy revealed that the assault was prompted by his anger towards Novak's reaction when he entered her room. Kurilla claimed that the 90-year-old victim shouted at him when he only intended to ask her a question.

"I was only trying to hurt her," explained the 10-year-old when asked if he was attempting to kill the nonagenarian.

Kurilla's attorney, Bernie Brown, stated that he had been petitioning the court to free the 10-year-old Damascus Elementary School pupil.

"Tristen really kind of doesn't have an idea of what is going on," Brown said to WBRE. "Jail is still jail, no matter what part of the facility you are in," he added.

At present, the fifth grader is in custody of the Wayne County Correctional Facility, but is separated from the adult offenders. A spokesperson from Wayne County district attorney's office disclosed that Kurilla had been charged with criminal homicide.

He has been ordered to be held in the facility without bail following his arraignment. Kurilla is set to appear in court on Oct. 22.
