A McDonald's customer ordered a sausage biscuit sandwich in one of the food chain's branches along the Mississippi state, but received a half-eaten English muffin.

On his way to a game of Texas A&M, Don Richardson went to a local McDonald's to order food for his trip. When he received his order, however, the sandwich had already been half-eaten with quite a few bites taken out.

"I was driving, hurrying to get to an 11 (a.m.) game and nearly bit into it before I looked down and saw it," shared Richardson. "Marie [his wife] wanted me to take it back then, but we were already several miles down the road by then and didn't want to miss kickoff," he added.

According to Richardson, a resident of Madison who used to be employed as a clerk in the Mississippi House, as well as a long-serving Jackson area coach and school administrator, the restaurant officials he talked to regarding the issue acted unconcerned when he raised this incident.

This apathy over the incident remained despite Richardson's repeated phone calls and one trip to the branch.

"I still haven't gotten as much as a 'We're sorry this happened' or 'We'll check the videotape and see how this happened.' They act like they don't care that I received an order that somebody else - I'm assuming one of their employees - had been eating," said Richardson.

Richardson claimed that the Oct. 4 incident upset him for several reasons, which prompted his insistence to see this issue properly handled.

One of the reasons he cited was health concerns, especially due to the various diseases getting spread around the country today.

"The person who ate part of the muffin I was served ... how do I know that he or she isn't carrying a disease of some sort? Plus, it's just not sanitary," Richardson explained.

Another reason is that he wanted the establishment to be well-informed of these kinds of incidents to prevent the same from recurring in the future. Despite his efforts, however, the McDonald's staff "don't seem concerned with that whatsoever".

When Richardson revisited the branch on Oct. 10, he claimed to have been attended to by a young lady assigned to man the register. However, the manager of the store refused to assist him on his concerns.

"She [the manager] told me she couldn't replace my order because they were 'now on the lunch menu.' I told her I didn't want it replaced, I wanted an explanation. She then told me if I didn't get out of her line they would call 911. There wasn't even a line to get out of. She was rude and never even offered an 'I'm sorry.' I was astounded," he shared.

In an effort to help his concern get resolved, Richardson posted a photo of his half-eaten sandwich in Facebook on Oct. 15. One of the comments in his post provided him the number of My Joy Inc.

Upon calling the customer service hotline, Richardson was referred to an agent in charge who simply responded with "possibly one of our employees failed".

However, the customer service person added the disclaimed "If what you say is true," which completely offended Richardson.

"I wouldn't be spending this much time on a sausage biscuit that cost $1.08 if it wasn't true," he asserted.

"I'm not out to get McDonald's, I'm not out to sue them. But I would like an apology. And I would like for them to care enough to go back and look at the videotape and try to find out how it happened so that it doesn't happen to somebody else. And then call me and tell me what happened. They have my number," Richardson explained.
