HP is set to release the MB Chronowing smartwatch, a product of online clothing retailer Gilt's designer Michael Bastian and the tech giant's partnership. 

The MB Chronowing is a 44 mm stainless steel smartwatch with features made by Hewlett-Packard including text, email, app notifications, real-time sports, weather and stock alerts.

The MB Chronowing is compatible with the iOS and Android mobile operating systems and offers music player controls. It has a non-touch LCD monochrome display with digital alerts, updates and clock hands.

The smartwatch is more a Meta M1 than a Withings Activite. It comes in perforated brown leather, black rubber and olive green nylon straps out of the box. A Limited Edition MB Chronowing comes with an alligator leather strap, sapphire glass and black PVD painting.

The smartwatch has limited features. It can connect to an iPhone 4S or Android 4.3 device and display messages, texts, music control, calendar events, stock prices and sport game scores.

The smartwatch has three side buttons for control and a Casio-like built-in light. The MB Chronowing has a seven-day battery life with auto-time zone function and 5 ATM waterproof feature.

It's available on Gilt exclusively starting on Nov. 7 for $350. The MB Chronowing limited edition sells for US$650 and only 300 units will be made. Bastian said he wanted to make a cool, wearable device. A few important details for him are the round face, interchangeable bands and an inset dial that looks like an analog watch with hands.
