(Photo : Reuters) Apple has reportedly fixed the WireLucker malware bug on iOS and OS X, but security researchers have now found a Windows version.

Palo Alto Networks recently uncovered a large malware bug spread across 350,000 machines on OS X and iOS, that was reportedly started by Chinese hackers.

The malware bug was capable of moving from iOS to OS X through USB, and managed to take usernames, passwords, messages and even photos, store them, and potentially sell them at a later date.

This is one of the first times Apple's security has been compromised on a major scale and is thesecond large scale attack from Chinese hackers, the previous coming a week earlier involving iCloud.

Apple has confirmed that the WireLucker malware bug has been thwarted in a new patch, released to affected users in the coming week. The Cupertino, Calif.-based company also advises people in China to use verified third party portals to download applications for iOS or OS X.

This is great news for any iDevice users who believe their data has been compromised, but it looks like WireLucker will not die with the recent patch. New reports from multiple security sources claim the malware bug has spread to Windows.

Windows is much less secure when it comes to bugs and viruses because more viruses are written for Windows, and it has less of a secure lock between hardware, software and services - like Apple has on iOS and OS X.

This makes it much easier for the malware bug to spread. Microsoft thankfully has improved its own anti-virus, malware and firewall in the past few iterations, and security suites like AVG and Avast! should be good deterrents against WireLucker.

WireLucker is found on some third-party websites, where users can download apps. These will be ported onto iOS, OS X and now Windows, to be downloaded by users, unaware that the app is filled with malware.

Microsoft has not commented on the new bug and its early effects.
