Hello Kitty, a worldwide cultural icon created in Japan by Sanrio, will come to China in form of a theme park and will open on January 1, 2015, according to a report by RocketNews24.

There have been rumors about a potential Hello Kitty theme park in China since 2009, but many people began to give up on the idea after years of misinformation. However, the theme park has been confirmed and fans of the popular character can put concerns to rest.

A Hello Kitty Park will open in China's Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province in early 2015, as the Japanese company celebrates its 40thyear anniversary of Hello Kitty.

The upcoming theme park opening in China will reportedly be the largest Hello Kitty theme park in Asia, even larger than Japan's main Hello Kitty Park Sanrio Puroland in Tokyo.

The park will consist of a number of attractions as well as other entertainment, and will be divided into six different zones with each zone featuring Hello Kitty and other famous characters created by Sanrio. There will even be a Hello Kitty-themed hotel on the premises.

According to the companys' website, adult ticket prices will cost 260 yuan ($42.35) and 200 yuan ($32.58) for children.

In addition, a Disney Resort is also coming to Shanghai sometime in 2015 and people in mainland China will no longer have to travel to Hong Kong to experience the Disney pleasures.

The two upcoming theme parks will certainly be competing with each other, and while Sanrio has the advantage of opening its Hello Kitty Park sooner, the Disney Resort has the location advantage being just a 30-minute car ride from Shanghai Pudong International Airport compared to about three hours for Hello Kitty.
