Mavericks' Owner Mark Cuban Opens Up About Bigotry in the NBA

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban made a few pointed statements about bigotry while in Nashville on Wednesday.

In an interview with Inc. Magazine, the billionaire entrepreneur opened up about his own bigoted feelings stating:

"If I see a black kid in a hoodie and it's late at night, I'm walking to the other side of the street. And if on that side of the street, there's a guy that has tattoos all over his face -- white guy, bald head, tattoos everywhere -- I'm walking back to the other side of the street."

Shortly after, Cuban issued an apology to the parents of Trayvon Martin via Twitter for the hoodie statement.

Trayvon Martin was wearing a hoodie when he was killed by neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman in 2012.

However, the Mavericks owner stood by the context of his comments saying they weren't meant to offend but simply a call for more tolerance.

The remarks come in light of the recent Donald Sterling scandal in which racist and bigoted comments were recorded in a telephone conversation between the Clippers owner and his archivist V. Stiviano.

In the recording, Sterling is heard telling Stiviano not to bring African-Americans to Clippers' games as well as not post pictures on social networking sites of herself with African-Americans.

Cuban is one of the 30 NBA owners who will determine the fate of Donald Sterling on June 3 and decide if Sterling's racist comments warrant termination of his ownership of the Los Angeles Clippers.

According to reports, Cuban told business owners during a Q&A session that he knows how he will vote but will not reveal his decision as of yet.

Fellow NBA owners still expect Cuban to vote against Sterling next month, but in light of his recent comments, some believe that his vote could go either way.
