Jonathan Gruber, an economist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), has made controversial comments regarding the ObamaCare leading to him having to apologize on Tuesday about these comments before a House committee.

Rep. Darrell Issa has accused Gruber of creating a false model in order to get the ObamaCare passed. Gruber was one of the consultants during the creation of the law and has been questioned by Republicans on the House oversight committee during his first appearance after the videos of him insulting the law has surfaced online.

Issa, a Republican Rep. from California and the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee said, "You made a series of troubling statements that were not only an insult to the American people, but revealed a pattern of intentional misleading [of] the public about the true impact and nature of ObamaCare."

Gruber has stated in one of the videos that the authors of ObamaCare took advantage of the stupidity of the Americans. Due to this, he apologized for his "mean and insulting" comments on Tuesday and explained some of his remarks while wanting to take back what he has said.

Gruber once said that the law was passed due to lack of transparency in the government but has countered it on Tuesday when he said that it was not passed in a "non-transparent fashion".

Gruber added, "I sincerely apologize for conjecturing with a tone of expertise and for doing so in such a disparaging fashion. I knew better. I know better. I'm embarrassed and I'm sorry." He pointed out that he might have behaved badly but his inexcusable arrogance is not a flaw of the Affordable Care Act.

Issa also accused Marilyn Tavvener, the administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, who has been accused for allegedly exaggerating the enrollment numbers. The agency claimed that there was an enrollment of 7.3 million but revised it to 6.7 million enrollees.
