Apple has announced that the LTE-version of the iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 will finally come to China after a slight delay due to problems with China's carriers.

Chinese customers previously only had the WiFi only option, but Apple will be bringing LTE, HSPA+ and other cellular networks to the iPads.

The LTE option costs $129 more in the U.S., a hefty price spike for cellular connection. Users are able to pick up different family plans to reduce the overall cost of the iPad, if they happen to own a smartphone.

China will have 16GB, 64GB or 128GB options for both the iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3. Users will also be able to choose between gold, silver and black-the same as the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus color options.

Generally, the iPad has not had the same success in China as the iPhone, possible due to the popularity of phablets in the country. The Redmi Note is one of the most successful devices due to its large size and relatively cheap price.

Apple's iPad is on four straight quarters of decline. The iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 do not look to be the solution-Apple trimmed a bit of fat from the iPad Air 2 and added Touch ID to both-but other than that it is the same device.

Several experts claim Apple is in a tablet slump, unsure what to do next and how to innovate the product. Sales of Mac devices surpassed the iPad this year and users are holding off from upgrading.

Rumors are starting to circulate about the potential 12.2-inch iPad Air Plus or iPad Pro, but the same rumors hit the news in 2013, never to come to fruition. It is unclear if Apple is actually working on a third size for the iPad.

The iPads may not be doing so well, but the iPhones have had their best year yet, selling more than 50 million units according to several analysts. Apple reportedly wants 80 million sales by the end of 2014, a tall order but not impossible.
