NASA Interns Release "All About That Space" Video Parody

NASA has posted online a lively a parody of Meaghan Trainor's "All About That Bass" to promote  the Orion spacecraft.

The NASA version is aptly called "All About That Space," which some space nerds consider a better version of the original. This is a project of NASA's Pathways interns from the Johnston Space Center where the interns had fun at one of the space agency's facilities.

This is apparently an attempt to rekindle public interest in the Orion capsule's successful first test flight last week. Orion is specifically designed for future manned spaceflights to Mars and beyond.

NASA wants everyone's attention when it comes to manned space exploration after the demise of the Space Shuttle missions in 2011.

The video presents NASA's women interns to highlight the emerging role of women in science and technology development. There is a scarcity in female staff in the STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) fields and NASA is working to address this by hiring more female STEM graduates.

NASA is now in good spirits because of Orion's successful maiden flight last December 5. Orion's first scheduled launch was delayed due to high winds and a wayward boat in the launch vicinity along with some minor technical problems.

These glitches, however, didn't stop NASA engineers from pushing through with the launch the next day at Cape Canaveral, Florida. Orion was launched into Earth orbit and stayed there for four-and-a-half hours before splashing down into the Pacific Ocean. The capsule was then recovered by the U.S. Navy.

Orion's Flight Director Mike Sarafin said the successful spaceflight is truly a great day for America, even if the mission was unmanned.
