The dream match between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao will finally happen. Mayweather has accepted the Filipino champ's dare to meet him on the ring to settle once and for all who between them is the real pound-for-pound king.

Mayweather set May 2 as the date for their match in an interview with Showtime. At the same time, he blamed Top Rank Promotions chief Bob Arum for the five-year delay in the dream match.

Arum has stated in previous interviews that Mayweather is afraid of a southpaw like Pacquiao, which is the reason why the unbeaten American boxer keeps on imposing so many conditions in the past such as blood and urine tests for fear that the congressman would give "Money May" his first loss like what Pacquiao did with Chris Algieri on November 22 in Macau.

"Floyd Mayweather is not ducking or dodging any opponent. Bob Arum is stopping the fight. We have been trying to make this fight happen for many years behind the scene," Yahoo Sports quotes Mayweather.

While calling for negotiations to take place, Mayweather said that Pacquiao should not expect a 50-50 split of the guaranteed purse. Mayweather has previously said he wants two-thirds of the money at stake, estimated to be the highest in boxing history at US$100 million.

"You lost twice and now you're coming back begging for the same money? That's not gonna happen," Mayweather said.

He had mocked Pacquiao in the past for wanting to fight him to pay off the Filipino champ's huge tax arrears with the Philippine government. After Pacquiao's victory against Algieri, Mayweather still belittled Pacquiao by posting a video of the congressman's loss to Mexican boxer Juan Manuel Marquez in 2012.

However, Marquez chided Mayweather for using him to taunt Pacquiao. Marquez told Mayweather to quit blabbering and instead face Pacquiao on the ring.

Mayweather, 37, who is set to retire in 2015 with the Pacquiao bout as one of his last two fights, insisted that Pacquiao is not on his level, but he agreed to the match to please boxing fans. He said he wants to hang his gloves with a bang, while he accused Arum and Pacquiao of ducking him for years.
