Apple kicked off its 25th annual World-Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco on Monday, with a two-hour keynote which laid out all the new features the mega software company will be implementing on the Mac, iPad, and iPhone.

Around 5,000 people were in attendance at the keynote address yesterday with attendees ranging from students to software professionals. Reportedly, the youngest developer in the audience on Monday was thirteen.

Apple Inc. CEO Tim Cook was one of the individuals to take the stage yesterday at a little after 10 a.m. to talk about the success the company has experienced over the last year. Cook outlined that Apple now has 9 million developers, 1.2 million apps in the App Store, 300 million App Store visitors each week, and over 75 billion apps which have been downloaded so far.

Cook was also quick to point out other successes, stating that although computer shipments dropped 5% in the last year, Mac shipments grew by 12%. Furthermore, Apple's new OS X platform which runs on Mac is reportedly the fastest adoption ever of any PC operating system and has been installed over 40 million times since its release in October 2013.

Cook moved onto iOS-based devices citing that 800 million have been sold so far, including iPod Touch, iPad, and iPhone units.

Senior vice president of Software Engineering at Apple Inc., Craig Federighi, also took the stage amidst enthusiastic applause to tout the praises of OSX Yosemite and to go into detail about the improvements made to desktop systems, including new icons, the focus on clarity and utility, and the necessity of maximizing space for content.

Federighi also allowed developers to take a look at new features for iCloud, Safari, and numerous applications, but perhaps the highlight for many was when the vice president demonstrated how to make and receive calls on a Mac.

Federighi stated he would demonstrate by making a phone call to a new employee and, to the euphoria of the crowd, Dr. Dre, co-owner of Beats Electronics which Apple recently acquired for $3 billion, picked up on the other end.

The conversation was short with Dr. Dre stating that he was looking forward to coming and working for Apple, and Federighi pointing to how wonderfully the system works.

Overall, the keynote address has been considered by many developers as the "the mother of all releases" and couldn't come at a better time for the software behemoth. Although Apple continues to sell millions of iPhones and iPads, the demand for these devices has start to slow and arguably the company hasn't released any revolutionary products since the release of the iPad in 2010.

This year's WWDC has a sharper focus on software and aims to save the launching of new mobile devices for another time. Apple claims that it will be releasing "best product pipeline in 25 years" in the fall when the corporation launches new products.
