Jean Kasem Throws Meat at Casey Kasem's Daughter Over Health Care Row

Radio legend Casey Kasem was brought to a hospital on Sunday after his daughter, Kerri, fetched him from the home where his wife, Jean Kasem, had taken him, prompting Jean to thraw a pound of raw hamburger meat at Kerri - a strange twist in the long family feud over the iconic DJ's health care.

The legal fight over Casey's medical care began when Jean refused to allow his three children to see him, then, in a move to get him further away from his kids, she removed him from a Santa Monica nursing home and took him to a friend's residence in Washington state last month.

Casey's family were not notified of the move, causing them to initially file a missing person's report. His three adult children then took the fight to the courts, vying with Jean for control of the radio star's medical care.

A Los Angeles judge ruled that Casey's daughter, Kerri, should be in charge of her father's medical care after she testified at a hearing that the "American Top 40" host's health had drastically worsening since he was moved from the nursing home.

Late last week a Washington judge upheld the California ruling, giving Kerri the legal right to remove her father from Jean's home and to seek medical care elsewhere.

The 82-year-old former DJ was taken to a Washington state hospital on Sunday after Kerri arrived at the house he was staying in with an ambulance and paramedics in tow because she feared that her father's health was continuing to decline.

However, once Kerri arrived with the paramedics, Jean would not let them inside and instead threw a pound of raw hamburger meat at Kerri.

"In the name of King David, I threw a piece of raw meat into the street in exchange for my husband to the wild rabid dogs," the 59-year-old Jean told NBC News, citing Biblical scripture.

Although Casey's condition is unknown, Jean claimed on Friday that he was suffering from a rare form of dementia called Lewy Body Dementia while Kerri cited that he had developed bedsores and infections in his lungs and bladder since being taken to Washington.

The Kitsap County Sheriff's Office has released a statement since then stating that appropriate medical care has now been provided.
