Contactless payment allows users to pay for things on any NFC (near-field communication) enabled device, including a mobile or smartwatch. iOS and Android currently support this technology with their own payment services.

Disney already uses RFID (radio frequency identification) at the park with its MyMagic+ program, allowing users to pay for food and merchandise. This will be a follow up to allow devices to pay for things inside Disney World.

Most of the park will cover contactless payment, the only places not getting the update will be table-service restaurants. Disney will allow visitors to pay at bars, ticket booths and the various stores set up.

Disney World is the largest of the six theme parks in the U.S. with over 18 million visitors per year.

Disney was one of the first companies to partner with Apple Pay, when it launched earlier this year. Disney has always been a good partner for Apple, due to the relationship established by Steve Jobs and Pixar.

There is still some way to go before contactless payment is accepted everywhere in the U.S., but Apple Pay already has 90 percent of banks on board. Retailers are the main problem at the moment, Best Buy and Walmart both want CurrentC to become the dominant payment solution, but the public does not seem to think so.
