Star Wars Becomes the Most Anticipated Film of 2015

In the battle of box office dominance, the Avengers are apparently no match for the Jedis-

According to a recent Fandango survey on what the most anticipated film of 2015 is, the newest addition to the Star Wars franchise ranks much higher than Joss Whedon's follow up to The Avengers, which only came in second.

Not that it's anything to be worried about. 2015 is expected to be a banner year for the film industry, what with the numerous sequels to massive film franchises expected to premiere. Movies such as James Bond, starring Daniel Craig, a new Jurassic Park film starring the top 2 box office actor of the year, Chris Pratt and Mission: Impossible are all expected for a theatrical release in the coming year.

Following the survey results however, moviegoers are apparently set on wrapping up the Hunger Games series and are eager to catch Mockingjay - Part 2, starring media darling Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson.

The big screen adaptation of 50 Shades of Gray nabs the fourth spot, followed by the latest Jurassic Park film in fifth. Notably, 50 Shades is the only film in the roster that isn't a sequel but it does get a boost from its source material being a global best seller on book lists.

Last year, the first half of Mockingjay earned the title of being the most anticipated film of the year. And while the list gives theater-goers a good picture of what's to come, a lot can change when 2015 rolls in. For instance, Guardians of the Galaxy become a top grosser upon release despite the fact that it wasn't even included in the forecasts.

That said, other films such as Tomorrowland, a sci-fi film starring the recently married George Clooney and the movie Pan, a version of the classic fairy tale, still have a shot at becoming runaway fan faves.
