French telecommunications equipment maker Alcatel has made a few big announcements ahead of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in three days, including the launch of the Pixi and its first smartwatch line.

Alcatel is offering the Pixi with Android, Windows Phone or Firefox OS pre-installed. Normally, smartphone manufacturers make devices specific to one platform, but Alcatel is going full agnostic. Alcatel is also making sure all sizes and colors are available, offering a 3.5, 4, 4.5 and 5-inch size option and pink, blue, yellow, silver, black green, orange and red color options.

"Our users do not want complicated systems -- they want something familiar from their work environment in the office, but also on a smartphone," said Alcatel's Marketing Office Dan Dery in a press statement.

Alcatel will reveal the specifications for the Pixi at CES on January 6 to January 9. It looks to be another budget handset from the French phone maker, similar to most Alcatel smartphones.

The smartwatch announced alongside the Pixi is also interesting, Alcatel claims it will come at a "fraction of the cost of competitors," and has a similar design to the Moto 360, but without the drivers at the bottom of the display.

Alcatel has not confirmed if the smartwatch runs Android Wear, and the specifications have not been disclosed. The full announcement will be made available at CES 2015.

It was a strong 2014 for Alcatel, which added millions more budget customers and also entering into a variety of markets. CES 2015 looks to be another maze of products launched by the French company, alongside the reported revival of Palm OS.
