Acer is entering the Chromebook business, preparing a 15.6-inch Chromebook for the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) on Jan. 6 to Jan. 9.

The Taiwanese PC manufacturer has been sluggish to join the Chromebook movement, following three Chromebooks topping the Amazon's top three best selling laptops, but has finally arrived with a business class option.

Not only does the Acer Chromebook feature a full HD (1920 x 1080) 15.6-inch display, but it features an Intel Broadwell processor, making it the perfect Chromebook for the office.

There is a lower option, featuring an HD (1366 x 768) display and Intel Core i3 processor, which will most likely be the one Google promotes on its Chromebook store.

Acer has added 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 3.0, USB 2.0 and a HDMI port to the Chromebook. Acer also claims the Chromebook will feature superior battery life to competitors, but hasn't given any numbers.

"The Acer Chromebook 15 is a true powerhouse, it provides fast mobile performance and a large display to help customers accomplish more every day," said Jerry Kao, president of Acer Notebook Business Group in a statement.

"Acer has been a leader in the Chromebook market, from providing the latest in technology and trailblazing battery life to designing new form factors. We're driving the category forward again with the world's first 15.6-inch display Chromebook, the Acer Chromebook 15."

Users will also have a choice between 16GB and 32GB of solid-state drive (SSD) storage, and 2GB of 4GB of RAM. The lowest end model will ship for $249.99 and Acer will show the Chromebook off at CES 2015.
