Sergei Bobrovsky, goalie for the Columbus Blue Jackets, will be staying off the ice for four to six more weeks as he has sustained a groin injury that will not be allowing him to play.

The announcement came last Monday, effectively putting the Blue Jackets' hopes for Bobrovsky playing at the Stanley Cup at the sidelines as well.

Bobrovsky's injury came last January 21 in a game against the Winnipeg Jets.

Elliotte Freedman of Hockey Night in Canada initially took to social media and revealed that despite the win against the Jets, Bobrovsky got injured due to splits. He needed to leave the game.

The injury kept him out of the 2015 Honda All-Star Game, and subsequently placed on the injured reserve list on January 26.

He has played 33 games this season, amassing a record of 16-15-2 with 2.85 goals-against average and 0.913 save percentage.

For the Blue Jackets, it is definitely another setback in what seems like a season of setbacks caused by injuries. They are currently 14 points behind the Boston Bruins for the Final Eastern Conference wild-spot.

Blue Jackets head coach Todd Richards understands that their team is currently struggling. In a statement, he said that while he does not know how many wins the team needs, he does know that they need to win.

Last season, the Blue Jackets pushed the Pittsburgh Penguins to six games. The Blue Jackets were expected to be in a top-three spot in the Metropolitan Division. Instead, they have lost 283-man games as their team members began to break down with injuries.

Among those fallen comrades were forward Nathan Horton, defenseman Ryan Murray, forward Boone Jenner, and forward Brandon Dubinsky.

"It is something that you can only worry about what you can control," Blue Jackets defenseman James Wisniewski said. "You can't control the injuries that have happened to us this season. Hopefully we can overcome more adversity like we've been trying to all year."
