Young Bride-to-Be Dies on the Way to Her Bachelorette Weekend

A 26-year-old woman was killed in a car crash as she was being driven to her bachelorette party in Lake Ozark, Missouri by her best friend Friday afternoon.

Collette Moreno, mother-of-one, was due to get married on July 26 and was en route to her bachelorette weekend when she was hit by an oncoming vehicle after her friend, Ashley Theobald, attempted to overtake a semi-truck.

Just minutes before the collision occurred, Moreno shared a selfie of the two driving happily along while listening to Taylor Swift.

Theobald, who was Moreno's maid-of-honor, tearfully told news sources that they had gotten stuck behind a semi whose exhaust started to bother the soon-to-be-bride.

"She had bad asthma," a sobbing Theobald said. "She started coughing."

Theobald attempted to pass the truck after checking to see if the way was clear. However, she failed to spot an oncoming Dodge Ram which was cresting the hill and headed in the opposite direction.

Both drivers swerved, but the Ram hit the passenger side of Theobald's Chevy Malibu, where Moreno was seated, causing the vehicle to spin off the road and crash.

Although all three were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident, only Theobald and the driver of the Ram managed to walk away from the scene without injuries.

According to Theobald, Moreno was still conscious after the crash and, although she couldn't talk back, was nodding while her maid-of-honor talked to her.

"I didn't know it was as bad as it was because she wasn't physically super beaten-up." The devastated young woman said.

Theobald is unlikely to face criminal charges for Moreno's death, but she will probably have to deal with traffic charges for careless and imprudent driving as authorities state she was in a no-passing zone when she attempted to go around the semi.
