'Community' fans can rejoice because everyone's favorite dysfunctional group of students will be making a comeback for its sixth season.

The cult comedy was cancelled in May by NBC but it's Yahoo who has come to the rescue this time, allowing 'Community' to play out for another 13 episodes in Season 6.

The deal was sealed on Monday, just before the actors of the popular show were to be released from their contracts at midnight.

The regular cast members who were present at the end of Season 5 - Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Yvette Nicole Brown, Alison Brie, Danny Pudi, Ken Jeong and Jim Rash - will remain for the coming season, although some of the show favorites such as Donald Glover and Jonathan Banks look to be permanently absent from coming season.

Creator Dan Harmon released a statement lauding the return of the series:

"I am very pleased that 'Community' will be returning for its predestined sixth season on Yahoo, I look forward to bringing our beloved NBC sitcom to a larger audience by moving it online. I vow to dominate our new competition. Rest easy, 'Big Bang Theory.' Look out, 'Bang Bus!"

NBC declined to carry 'Community' for a sixth season, dropping their end of the popular "six seasons and a movie" meme. But now that Yahoo has picked up the comedy show for another season, a movie might just be a very real possibility, prompting Harmon to say:

"If the movie has to be made out of clay and duct tape in my basement, then that's how the movie will be made, because there has to be closure."

Under its video umbrella, Yahoo Screen, the website also hopes to challenge video giants such as Amazon, Netflix, and Hulu. If the future 'Community' episodes live up to the show's previously set standards, then the sitcom should have no issues drawing in a multitude of viewers.
