iOS 9 Update will Fix Performance Issues

(Photo : Reuters) Apple is looking to fix some of the underlining performance issues on iOS 9.

Apple is reportedly holding off from another big feature launch at its annual WWDC conference, instead focusing on performance issues and bug fixes for iOS 9.

For the past two years, Apple has launched big feature updates for iOS. In 2013, the interface was overhauled and in 2014, Touch ID and Apple Pay were both added.

This year will be all about reducing the number of crashes on the mobile OS, already known for its stability compared to Android. Apple has been running thousands of hours of Q&A to make sure every small bug is removed from iOS 9.

Apple has been criticized for lackluster bug fixing in the past two years, leading to Zero-Day vulnerabilities on iOS 8. This year, Apple hopes to show its security dominance in the mobile space, making iOS a real player in the enterprise market.

Before WWDC this June, Apple will launch the Apple Watch and 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air models. Apple Watch will feature a different version of iOS for the smaller screen, meaning it shouldn't be affected by the launch of iOS 9 two month later.

iOS 9 will most likely come first to the iPhone 6S, 6S Plus and 6S Mini. All of them will launch in the second half of 2015. The iPad Mini, Air and Pro will also get the update but most likely a month later than the iPhone that's normally launched in September.

After the huge growth of Apple in China, it's clear the company is spotting more performance problems, considering the variables the Chinese app market brings to a highly secure iOS.

Apple sold 74 million iPhones in Q1 2015, beating Samsung's entire product line for the first time since 2012. Analysts said the projected growth of China and the Indian high-end markets could push Apple's sales to over 100 million units by Q1 2016.
