Microsoft Offers 100 GB OneDrive Storage Free for Two Years

(Photo : Microsoft) Microsoft is offering a new freebie for OneDrive, this time 100GB of storage with almost-no-strings attached.

Microsoft is being very generous with its cloud storage service OneDrive and offers unlimited storage if the customer has an Office 365 home account.

In a new promotion, Microsoft is now offering 100 GB for free for two years through its Bing Rewards service. This does mean the user needs to have a Bing Rewards account to get the offer.

Microsoft is also making sure users sign up to receive email updates, a small price to pay for 100 GB of cloud storage for free. Microsoft already offers 25 GB when the user signs up for a OneDrive account.

Once the two years run out in 2017, OneDrive customers will have to pay $1.99 per month, a pretty slim price for 100 GB of cloud storage. By 2017, Microsoft might have lowered the prices even more since its already dropped them twice.

OneDrive is one of the most intriguing cloud storage services currently on the market. It competes against Dropbox, Apple's iCloud and Google Drive.

The integration on Windows seems to be winning subscribers but its consumer cloud market is still not making a lot of money.

Microsoft is also investing heavily into its enterprise cloud service bundled into the Microsoft Azure platform. IBM, Amazon Web Services and a few others are competing in this market.

It looks to be working out, considering the growth of Microsoft's mobile, cloud and hardware business over 2014 under the leadership of Satya Nadella.
