A shouting match with the Dallas Mavericks' Head Coach Rick Carlisle had Rajon Rondo glued to the bench for the 99-92 win over the Toronto Raptors. Their profanity-laced argument was regarding play-calling responsibilities of the team.

With 8:10 left in the third quarter, Carlisle took to the court in order to call for a timeout.

He then directed his attention and anger at Rondo who, prior to the timeout, had ignored a play call from the bench as he brought the ball up the floor.

Rondo did not take kindly all the shouting and proceeded to shout back at his coach.

For most of the timeout, the team did little planning or adjusting their play. Instead, they watched Rondo and Carlisle argue.

At one point, Assistant Coach Jamahl Mosley stood in front of the two to stop them from getting in each other's faces.

When Carlisle was asked on his thoughts on the matter, he simply said it was a difference of opinion.

A source close to the Mavericks told ESPNDallas.com that friction has been building up between Carlisle and Rondo regarding the play-calling responsibilities.

This wasn't the first time Carlisle had this issue though, as former point guard Jason Kidd experienced this kind of frustration during his first season playing for Carlisle.

However, the difference was that it never ended in an outburst.

When asked about Rondo's comfort level in the Mavs' offense, he brought up the subject without any prompt after last week's loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

He said that he was able to adapt and adjust to anything. He also offered that Coach does a lot of the play calling, "and just go from there."

After the altercation, Carlisle relegated Rondo to the bench where he watched the rest of the game unfold.

Backup point guard Devin Harris stepped in for Rondo to finish the game.
