Huawei to Showcase 'ICT Innovations' for Smart Cities at MWC 2015

Chinese telecom giant Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. has announced plans to showcase its new information and communications technology (ICT) innovations at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 in Barcelona, Spain next week.

Reports say Huawei plans to share its insights on building smart cities and enhancing user experience for a better connected world.

"The mega trend of building smart cities will drive urban development." said David He, Huawei's president and marketing solutions sales department of enterprise business group.

"Governments around the world want smart cities to enable efficient management, reliable operations, convenient services, and eco-friendly economic growth,"

"Huawei believes that innovative ICT as the core driving force for smart cities. We are committed to laying a solid foundation that offers flexible information sharing, ubiquitous broadband access, a high level of service agility, and enhanced security for smart city development." He added.

"Huawei also provides an open ICT platform and continued to work with partners to build an efficient, win-win industry ecosystem to promote the deployment of intelligent applications."

The products Huawei intend to showcase include its Safe City Solutions, the All-in-one Collaborative Cloud Solution for enterprise branches and SMEs, Machine to Machine (M2M) based Energy Efficiency Management Solution and the Digital Journey and Intelligent Bus Solution.

The Chinese telecom giant showcased its safe city solutions last year in Mexico, where the company invested US$1.5 billion to build new ICT facilities over the next five years.

Other tech companies showcasing their plans and new technologies at the MWC 2015 include Finnish company Nokia Networks, South Korea's Samsung Electronics and SK Telecom, among others.

Nokia plans to showcase new 5G technologies for the Internet of Things at the upcoming event. Samsung, on the other hand, plans to demonstrate a 7.55 Gbps data transmission using its 3D Beamforming technology, in collaboration with SK Telecom.
