Phoenix Goes On Loose Llamas Chase

It was like a scene from a cartoons in Phoenix when two loose llamas suddenly emerged on the streets and darted in and out of traffic at lunch hour on Thursday.

Authorities lassoed the wayward large white llama and the smaller black llama that made vehicles and golf carts stop, but not without first making the pursuers from the Maricopa County Sheriff's office run through sidewalks, yards and street medians, reports CBS.

A television crew caught the loose animals, making the two llamas instant social media stars and the subject of memes, tweets and hashtags such as #llamasontheloose.

At the height of the chase, 2,200 tweets were mad about the two llamas.

Even media men and sports teams pitched in their two cent's worth such as Jeff Darlington of NFL Network who tweeted, "I literally yelled at the TV in excitement as the llama escaped the lasso. This, my friend, is why football needs to be a year-round sport."

Fox reports of the tweets exchange between the Arizona Cardinals and the Colts, which began with this tweet: "The #AZCardinals have agreed to one-year deals with the #llamasontheloose. Each llama will earn 2,340 lbs of hay. Steve Keim does it again."

The Indianapolis Colts replied, "@AZCardinals would you guys be interested in a trade deal? Let's talk," which got this answer the Cardinals: "@Colts Our #llamasontheloose have a no-trade clause. We'll send you a few cases of salsa for Andrew Luck's beard. These llamas need to eat."

Someone called 911 that the two animals had escaped from an assisted living facility, where the two llamas do patient therapy work.

CNN called the two as the Bonnie and Clyde of llamas, although they were mother-and-offspring pair.

It took the catchers about an hour to catch the two loose llamas, said Lt. Brandon Jones of the Maricopa Sheriff's Office.
