HTC One M9 Unveiled Alongside New Wearable

The One M9 update is coming to T-Mobile and AT&T customers this week.

HTC announced the One M9 at Mobile World Congress earlier today, right after the Re Vive VR announcement and alongside the Re Grip wearable.

In terms of design, the One M9 sticks to the guidelines and doesn't look much different from the One (M8). It does feature a two-tone design, meaning it can be gold on the front and side and silver on the back.

On the back is the first major difference: an 20 MP camera instead of a 4 UltraPixel camera. The UltraPixel camera has been moved to the front to allow low-light selfies to look just right.

The One M9's screen is still 1080p unlike the Galaxy S6 and Xiaomi Mi Note, both featuring a Quad HD display. This is a bit disappointing but shows the Taiwanese company isn't ready to commit to another screen upgrade because of battery reasons.

Internally, the One M9 will run on Qualcomm's new Octa-core Snapdragon 810 with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. HTC will provide a microSD slot for additional storage alongside an IR blaster, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi a/b/g/n/ac and 4G LTE support.

Android Lollipop runs underneath the thick layer of Sense 7. This is a new UI update with a new feature showing available apps based on location.

The One M9 will be available in the next few months for the top-end price. All four U.S. carriers will be offering it on contract.

HTC also announced the Re Grip, a new fitness tracker built in partnership with Under Armour. This means the Under Armour fitness app comes pre-loaded onto the device.

Re Grip can track calories burned, steps walked and even heart-rate. The small LED displays notifications and music can be changed. It will go on sale in the next few months for $199.
